The semester I got to spend studying and interning in New York City in particular got me excited for what lies ahead professionally. All of my experiences at Marist have made me feel really prepared for a career in the administrative side of theatre.
As soon as I saw the campus with its beautiful river views, it immediately felt like home. Plus, I liked the fact that it was easy to switch majors. I initially wanted to major in digital media, but after a year in that program, I realized that I really wanted to be in the studio, so I switched my major to studio art with a minor in graphic design.
I feel greater appreciation for Marist even more now than I did my first year. The Hudson River is beautiful, and campus life is active and lively. The students are eager to learn, the classes are eye-opening and impactful, and we’re able to have really important conversations about weighty topics.
I’ve formed strong relationships with my professors. Whether I need help with a daily classroom assignment or have a question about a paper or exam, the professors are very open to meeting and helping their students. They make it very easy to reach out to them, and they are extremely responsive and open to working with all students.
For me, going away to college on the mainland was an opportunity for an adventure. I had never visited the East Coast before. I come from a large family, so I’m grateful that Marist’s financial aid package made it possible for me to pursue my education.
There were many reasons why I chose Marist – the beautiful campus, the people, the culture, the opportunities that came with a school so close to New York City. But I think the biggest factor for me was the Sports Communication program and the production studios and equipment available to students in Lowell Thomas.
